Great Ponton Parish Council
Minutes of the meeting of GPPC held on 8th September 2025 at 7pm at the Village Centre.
Present: Councillors Ian Cruickshank Gordon Taylor Eileen Booth, Linda Adams, Charntal Askew, David Bellamy and Ben Green.   Parish Clerk Carol Ramsey.  Paul Lashmar VC
Chairmans welcome. 
Open public forum.   Items brought to the PC attention included overgrown vegetation blocking footpaths, state of some footpath surfaces, the village noticeboards, safety of the steps at the back of Archers Way bungalows, and a pedestrian blind spot on Archers Way. The PC will look into these matters.
1 Apologies None received
2 Declarations of interest according with the Localism Act 2001. None received.
3 Previous minute30/6/2025 were declared as correct.
Village/Council matters
4a Flood defence work at the lower end of the village is commencing this week to improve drainage and deepen the ditches.
4b Boundary village centre still ongoing
4c Playground equipment ER and CA will look again at equipment
 5 District and county councillors’ reports
Change of bin days/new pylon line were discussed. The battery storage farm at Easton will be 44 hectares and not 44 acres as initially reported. LA did not receive emails regarding flood grants PC will contact Charlotte Vernon on this matter.
6 VC matters and reports. Functions are going well at the centre, and bookings continue to improve. Future plans include maintenance days/decorating. The leak in the tower is to be fixed. An electrical safety check is pending. The playground will remain closed until repairs are completed
7 Financial matters
 Up to date PC accounts were circulated.
8 Correspondence A letter of resignation from Fred Furber was read out
9 Councillors reports and matters for inclusion on the next agenda
All rents on the field are to be reviewed. Abandoned Trailer on A1 to be reported to Highways
