Great Ponton Parish Council
Minutes of the meeting of GPPC held on 7TH April 2025 at 7pm at the Village Centre.
Present: Councillors Ian Cruickshank Gordon Taylor Eileen Booth and Fred Furber, Vice Chair, Linda Adams and Charntal Askew. Parish Clerk Carol Ramsey. David Bellamy. Paul Lashmar VC

1 Apologies Ben Green
2 Declarations of interest according with the Localism Act 2001. None received.
3 Previous minutes24/2/2025 were declared as correct.
4a Casual vacancy no interest from villagers. PC can now coopt. Paul Lashmar confirmed his interest, previously expressed in writing, to join the PC
4b Community speed watch. Both cameras are working. No statistics available. IC will take over charging of speed camera
4c Boundary village centre still ongoing
4d A1 issues. Improvements to the A1 have commenced and are on-going
4e White gate update Gate installation date 26/04/25
4f Code of conduct Discussion centred round the resignation of our previous Chair RP. It was deemed RP resigned after repeated abuse from certain villagers following the previous PC meeting, where information had been passed on in a misleading manner, by a fellow councillor. There was a frank discussion and the vice chair and another councillor called for this councillor to resign from the PC.
4g Payment of £2895 for flood relief in the village from the RPA has been ringfenced
4h William Perry has agreed to build the village two notice boards. WP will be reimbursed for his costs.
4i Play equipment no real movement on this issue. EB and CA will look at play equipment
5 District and county councillors’ reports.
Fly tipping can now be reported on Fix my Street. Devolution deal has been agreed. DB against this over worries of council tax increases. Little Ponton now have a parish council. Railway bridge of new ring road has to be redesigned, no further work till at least 2026?
6 VC matters and reports. Functions are going well at the centre, and bookings continue to improve.
Web site is about to go live. Any large events, immediate neighbours will be informed in advance
7a Community playing fields.
Grass cutting has commenced. It was agreed to ask Carlos for an increase of £5 per session
8 Financial matters
Up to date PC accounts were circulated. Yearend balance £5993.77 RPG ring fenced in account number 60402109. £16K remains in the Playing Field Account earning no interest. CR to ask if PC can pay the bulk of the loan for the field off with this money. Precept 25/26 £12729.00. Browns Trust interest rate down slightly. PC insurance due portacabins are not insured. CR to look into this.
