Great Ponton Parish Council
Minutes of the meeting of GPPC held on 24th February 2025 at 7pm at the Village Centre.
 
Present: Councillors Ian Cruickshank Gordon Taylor Eileen Booth and Fred Furber Linda Adams and Charntal Askew.  Parish Clerk Carol Ramsey, and Richard Parkinson Chair. 
 
Chairmans welcome. Charntal was welcomed to her first meeting
 
Open public forum.   Mr Willaim Perry attended to ask if the Parish Council could help with funds for the village centre. It was explained that the VC has always been self-funding and the PC do donate on special occasions.
 
1 Apologies David Bellamy and Ben Green
 
2 Declarations of interest according with the Localism Act 2001. None received.
 
3 Previous minutes 13/01/2025 were declared as correct.
 
4a Community speed watch. Both cameras are working. RP cannot retrieve statistics from the older camera. DB has agreed to pass on information on the cameras to RP to date this has not happened
4b Boundary village centre still ongoing
4c A1 issues. Improvements to the A1 have commenced and are on-going
4d White gate update Gates are now ordered installation date 26/04/25
4e   PC has received a payment of £2895 for flood relief in the village from the RPA this money has been ringfenced. PC have now met with the Environmental Agency. Several suggestions were put forward. RP to work on these issues
4f It was agreed to purchase two notice boards for the village and also to utilise the Church noticeboard   
4g Play equipment no real movement on this issue. It will be raised again at the next meeting
4h Motorhome club It was decided not to proceed with this matter
4i   Road between Hunters Nook and Cringle Way. Potholes are an issue on this road. Unfortunately, the road is unadopted and is not the responsibility of SKDC/LCC or the PC.  PC to take further advice on this matter 
4j Dog fouling   This is an issue in the village despite free dog poo bags being available. It was agreed to increase signage to encourage walkers to pick up after their dogs 
 
 5 District and county councillors’ reports.     
None given
 
6 VC matters and reports. Functions are going well at the centre, and bookings continue to improve.
 
7a Community playing fields.
There are problems with mole hills. James Pask will be asked to do remedial work before grass cutting commences.
 
8 Financial matters
a) Up to date PC accounts were circulated
