Great Ponton Parish Council

Minutes of the meeting of GPPC held on 6th March 2023 at 7pm

Present Councillors Eileen Booth, David Booth Richard Parkinson Gordon Taylor and Fred Furber.  Ian Cruickshank Chair. Councillors David Bellamy and Charlotte Vernon.

Parish Clerk Carol Ramsey.

Open public forum.   No one attended

1 Apologies. Ben Green

2 Declarations of interest according with the Localism Act 2001. None received.

3 Previous minutes 9/1/23 were declared as correct.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MEETING

4a Community speed watch. 13639 vehicles passed through the village with an average speed of 24.9, maximum of 50 mph was recorded. It was agreed to price for two solar panelled speed cameras

4b Boundary village centre still ongoing.

4c A grant of £14500 has been applied for but no news as yet

4d Security cameras had been activated in the village hall during our previous meeting. It was agreed the clerk will write to bring this matter to the village hall com

4f H/S risk assessments have been carried out and shown to council members

District and county councillors report

Woodburning stove decision has been upheld. Councillors asked the PC for help in informing villagers of the need for photo id at elections. There is to be a new constituency of Rutland and Stamford. Great Ponton will come under the Uppingham constituency

Village centre matters

No reports received. Clerk to write to VH to remind them of the need to report to PC as the PC are the umbrella trustees for the hall.

Community playing field

6a IC remains in discussion with Gonnerby FC. He will inform us of any outcome. Gonnerby FC should be invited to the next PC meeting

6b Discussions revolved around running the site in strict accordance with the CC rules. The site is for recreational touring only. The site has an annual certificate, but our opening times are Easter to October annually. We can open longer. It was resolved to once we re open we will discuss the matter again.  It was resolved to keep the daily rate at £12 and hook up at £5 daily with no exceptions. Repairs are to be made to the gate and fencing.

7 Financial matters

7a Updated financial reports were given to all parish councillors and accepted.

8 Correspondence

8 Mrs Barbara Ormerod expressed a written interest regarding joining the PC and was co-opted as a member

9 Councillors reports and matters for the next agenda

EB requested the PC buy medals to commemorate the Coronation for all children 0-18. The clerk will liaise with the school to ensure no duplication and will source the medals.
