Great Ponton Parish Council

Minutes of the meeting of GPPC held on 26th September 2022 at 6 30pm

Present Councillors Eileen Booth, Ian Cruickshank, Gordon Taylor.

Councillors David Bellamy and Ben Green.

Acting Parish Clerk Carol Ramsey.

Chairmans welcome.

Open public forum.   Barbara Furber and Hilda Whalley attended. There was a discussion around permitted footpaths and access to the playing field. It was agreed there is not a permitted path onto the larger playing field. Mrs Furber asked if wildflowers could be sown next spring in certain areas of the new field. This was agreed by the PC. Hilda offered to empty the bin near the seat. Ian Cruickshank will investigate the cost of a commercial bin for the playing field area.

3 Previous minutes 26/7 were declared as correct.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MEETING

4a Community speed watch. 19284 vehicles passed through the village with an average speed of 25.7, maximum of 55mph was recorded. It was agreed to site the camera the top of the village.

4b It was agreed to purchase white gates for either end of Dally gate. CR to get quotes

4c Boundary village centre still ongoing.

4d Mr Fred Furber applied to and has been co-opted onto the PC. Advertisement for second vacancy to be displayed on the village centre noticeboard.

District and county councillors report

It was reported to DB that Weston Power had left signs, sandbags etc around the village. DB followed this up and said work was not complete and the signs would be removed on completion.

Village centre matters

5 There was no report from the village hall. It was explained that although the PC hold insurance for firework displays the village centre must hold their own insurance in order to run a firework display.

Community playing field

6a-d Playing field matters. Ian Cruickshank is to pursue Gonnerby FC regarding the use of the playing fields. It was proposed to raise the cost of hook up to £5 per day and monitor for long stay visitors. It was agreed that all CC visitors should pay £10 per day rent. Fencing around the caravan site is loose. It was resolved to check fencing again in the Spring. Grass cutting within the site is an issue as the area is too small for existing grass cutters to access. 

7 Financial matters

7a It is proving difficult to change banks it was resolved to stay with HSBC and change the mandate.

7b Updated financial reports were given to all parish councillors and accepted

7c AGAR accounts were shown to all. IC signed off forms and these have been sent to accountants.

8 Correspondence

8a  Letter received from Mr F Ferber and was acted upon.

9 Councillors reports and matters for the next agenda

It was resolved to form a sub committee to look into the future usage of the playing fields and meet on 10TH October 22 at the village centre at 7pm
